Yoga found me at a time in my life where I was in desperate need of change. From childhood to becoming a young adulthood, I struggled with depression, weight gain, and suicidal thoughts. Alcoholism and self-pity consumed me. My retail management lifestyle only encouraged toxic behaviors. My self-image was negatively driven and I did not know my self worth. I knew that everything needed to change when I saw the effects this mindset and lifestyle had on my family. Being a mother that my daughters could look up to, became my biggest priority. I had to believe in myself and pull myself out of the darkness.
In 2011, I went to a yoga class and fell in love with the relationship yoga creates between movement and the breath. I began doing yoga every day, and combining with weightlifting, I lost 80 pounds. I also gained peace of mind, self-healing, and self love. The way I felt coming onto the mat everyday, creating new opportunities to create true peace inside myself. I slowly stopped drinking, and used meditation to help to heal my depressing thoughts. I then left my retail career behind in search of something that I could do to serve others on the journey for change.
I was inspired by an instructor. He said a quote in class that spoke to me:
"Your purpose in life is to find your purpose and give your whole heart and soul to it"
― Gautama Buddha
This lead to my research with a number of yoga workshops, and ultimately, my training to become a yoga instructor.
Students that attend my classes can expect to learn how to find their own power inside themselves. Whether you have been doing yoga for years or it is your first experience, you wil find clarity and comfort in a safe space for self expression. You will leave feeling renewed, empowered, and centered.
Even though life is not perfect, yoga can help you to lead a more mindful lifestyle, which is vital in our world.
